About Us.

Why we exist today.

Red Bird

Our purpose.

We've noticed that a plethora of literary magazines have confined expectations for their submitters, so we strive to publish diverse pieces from all corners of the globe. We value original content and refined talent, no matter if you're an experienced writer or beginning anew. At The Velvet Quarterly, you'll always have a place.

Our History.

The Velvet Quarterly was founded in the winter of 2024, by writers Ananya Kharat and Jaiden Geolingo. They decided on the magazine name through several days of brainstorming, and ultimately landed on what it is today. The word "velvet" is associated with nobility and wealth, and while we don't expect our writers to come from royalty, the pieces we publish reflect the richness of our brand.
