ISSUE I THEME:

Renaissance!

While The Velvet Quarterly does not require works sticking to the issue theme, we do award Theme Winners!

Deadline:  March 15th, 2025.

Our inaugural issue, Renaissance, explores the ignition within a rebirth. What moments in your life prompted a revival, and how did you wade through that transition? What did you unravel in the process? We want you, as an artist, to rediscover these questions as you break boundaries for an answer. Let us know how you will evolve into something new.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Please attach your work as a pdf (not exceeding 1 GB) in our google form

Any work containing racism, homophobia, xenophobia, ableism, transphobia, or any form of bigotry that sends a message of hate will not be considered and you will be blacklisted from future publication in our magazine. Exceptions will be made for works that are handled with care and/or are a reflection of the creator's experiences. Additionally, do not send us explicitly sexual or graphic works.

Please include applicable trigger warnings in your pieces.

Upon acceptance, we ask for First North American Serial Rights. All rights revert back to the author upon publication.

If you want to query about your submission status, please wait up to three months before contacting us. We aim to get submission rejections/acceptances out within that time frame!
